SilicaAI runs natively on your macOS hardware. Our fundamental philosophy is that your personal data, prompts, voice recordings, and workflows belong to you. We do not want your data.

The Application

Core Workflows Are Local

When utilizing the core features of SilicaAI (standard chat, whisper speech-to-text, and local image generation), processing occurs entirely on your device. We do not transmit these inputs, resulting files, or inferences to any cloud server or telemetry aggregator.

Optional Cloud integrations

If you explicitly use beta web-search agents or third-party cloud model alternatives embedded optionally in the app settings, your data must pass over the internet to interact with those services.

The Website

Hosting, Analytics, and Telemetry

The website is hosted on Vercel. We do not use client-side tracking scripts or browser cookies for analytics purposes.

Our server-side API routes optionally send minimal operational events to PostHog, a server-side analytics service. These events track counts of actions such as beta signups, feedback submissions, donation clicks, and downloads. Event properties are limited to operational metadata: the event name, category or source tag, app version where applicable, and country, region, or city for download reporting when available. We do not send email addresses, names, prompt content, feedback message text, or raw IP addresses to PostHog or any other analytics service.

Your IP address may be logged by our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) for security and abuse prevention. For server-side actions such as downloads, beta signups, feedback, and surveys, we may store IP address and user-agent data in our internal operational database for abuse prevention, deduplication, and aggregate reporting.

For download reporting, we use hosting-provided location headers when available. If those headers are unavailable, we may perform an IP geolocation lookup to derive country, region, and city fields for aggregate analytics.

Donations and Support Processing

When donating, transactions are routed via Stripe or GitHub Sponsors. We do not store payment card information directly. When using our Support forms, we only collect the email strings, device variables, and contextual data you voluntarily provide us to triage your issue. You have the right to request deletion of your support email data.
